Today was the day everything changed.
For years, there had been a dream of living in a home on wheels and travelling through towering mountains, peaceful glens, sparkling lochs and winding roads that disappear into the distance. Today, that dream finally became a reality.
I couldn't have been happier to be part of it.
There was something even more special about today's journey. I was heading back towards the country I once called home. Before I became a motorhome, I proudly served as a Scottish ambulance, travelling these roads to help people when they needed me most. Returning felt familiar somehow, as though I was coming back to my roots—but this time with a very different purpose.
I gave it everything I had as we set off towards a place that had been dreamed about for so many years. There was so much excitement knowing we were finally heading somewhere we'd always hoped to visit and spend time exploring.
Mile after mile, the scenery became more breathtaking. Rolling hills stretched into the distance, rivers carved their way through ancient valleys, forests stood tall and proud, and dramatic mountain peaks rose high above the winding roads.
As the journey continued, the air became cooler. The warmth of the morning slowly faded, the temperature dropped, and the bright blue sky was gradually replaced by thick grey clouds drifting lower and lower across the landscape.
By the time we arrived, the clouds had settled so low that we could hardly see beyond the water's edge. Surrounded by towering mountains, dense woodland and still water, everything was wrapped in a blanket of mist. The mountains peeked through the low cloud just enough to remind us they were there, creating a peaceful, mysterious scene that felt almost magical.
Even though the views were hidden today, there was no disappointment. Sometimes nature likes to keep a few secrets. We're looking forward to spending time here, watching the clouds lift, exploring the trails, discovering hidden viewpoints, and soaking in every moment in a place that has lived in our dreams for so long.
I drove my very best today. Every climb, every winding road and every mile brought me back to the land where I once served—and into the future I was always meant for.
Today wasn't just another drive.
It was a homecoming... and the beginning of an unforgettable adventure.
Until tomorrow...
